In September of 2018 I decided I wanted nutrition coaching. I was tired of playing a guessing game and just “eating healthy” in hopes of making a change in my body. I didn’t feel great about myself and I was ready to make a real change in myself not only physically but mentally as well. Over the last year Zach has experienced a lot with me. Ups and downs. Happiness and breakdowns. Successes and failures. And some even more personal moments, getting engaged, my grandmother’s passing, and my wedding. It’s been quite the year but I’m so glad I had him as a coach.

He’s taught me a lot about flexible dieting, mindful eating, and memories over macros. Although I was happy with the physical progress I made, this whole experience allowed me to truly think about my relationship with food, dieting and how I viewed my own body, and that alone was so eye-opening to me. I hadn’t realized how much mental progress I needed to make within myself. Zach was there every step of the way, he was an incredible coach and it’s hard for me to put the words together of how he truly helped me grow. I no longer look at food and think negatively. I no longer feel the need to punish myself for eating something extra. I no longer think “I’ll start Monday” because he’s taught me how to turn it on and off like a light switch. I no longer eat until I’m exploding but rather until I feel satisfied. Each check-in Zach praised my progress like no other, he never put me down, and he always had a teaching moment for me to reflect on. He provided resources, articles, books, and podcasts to further my knowledge. He just really goes above and beyond for his clients. He always responds to check-ins in a timely manner and would always let us know ahead of time if he would be delayed for any reason. I truly can’t say enough great things about Zach.

I knew I would be working with a coach 1-on-1, but what I never thought was that it would turn into a friendship as well. Zach allowed me to open up in my check-ins and let it be a safe place for me to share all my feelings. When I was going through a very difficult time in February of this year he showed nothing but support. During that month my grandmother passed and it was just so hard on my family. One day when I came home from work I had a postcard waiting in the mail for me from Zach. In October I got married and when I came home from my honeymoon I had received a congratulations card from Zach. Little gestures like that show how much he cares about his clients and that we aren’t just a number and he’s not programmed to be JUST our nutrition coach. I’m so grateful to have gained so much more out of this experience than just macro coaching.

I feel confident that Zach has instilled so much knowledge in me that I will be okay to continue this journey on my own.
